I had received a text on Saturday that my son-in-law, who was camping with his family in North East Oregon, had fainted and woke up with chest pain. By late Saturday night, he had been taken to a hospital, had a CT scan, and was airlifted back to Tri-Cities with an aortic aneurysm. Not much sleep for me into Sunday morning, as he was going into immediate surgery.
By 5:15am, my daughter was texting that she needed me at the hospital. Jeff called his wife, who graciously dropped everything to pick us up. Thankfully, we were about as close to Tri-Cities as we were going to get along the whole race route.
I was at the hospital by 11am and able to be with my daughter when the surgeon came out to share the surgery was successful, explained everything he did over the past 9 1/2 hrs, and the critical window of the next 48 hrs.
Prayers are appreciated for JT’s recovery and road back to health from this near-death and life altering circumstance.
There is unfinished business on the XWA, but family is the focus for now.
